"eXRS Range 100 Miles!" This Is A Bold Statement By TriSquare Electronic Corp. And True; But Of Little Practical Value To The Typical User.
Truth About Radio Range On Planet Earth ----- The Actual Range Of EXRS And All Other UHF Two-Way Wireless Radios Including FRS And GMRS (Walkie-Talkies) Is Effectively The Same, Regardless Of Transmit Power. The Total Range Is Greatly Diminished By The Effects Of The Atmosphere, The Human Body, Trees, Buildings, Hills And All Other Environmental Conditions In The Area Of Use.
Portable UHF Radios Are Effectively Straight-Line Communications Devices. It Is The Path Of The Radio Waves That Establishes Usable Range.
The Earth Is Not Flat ----- The Curvature Of The Earth Limits The Straight-Line Path Of Radio Transmission. The Average Curvature Of Earth Dictates An Average Maximum Range Of 6 Miles.
Lengthen Range ----- There Are Certain Conditions On Earth Which Extend The "Straight-Line" Path Between Transceivers To More Than One Hundred Miles; Like From A Mountain-Top To The Valley Below.
Shorten Range ----- There Are Many Conditions That Obstruct The "Straight-Line" Path To Less Than One Mile; Like Buildings And/Or Trees.
BEWARE OF ADVERTISED RANGE CLAIMS ----- Advertised Range, And Product Names With Range Suggested In The Name, Have Grown From A Couple Of Miles To 30-Miles And More, In An Effort To Distinguish Product Pricing Within A Brand Line And/Or Market. Beware Of The Most Frequently-Advertised Brand Name Venders And Manufacturers, Who Use Range-Claims As Selling Features. Beware Of Range Selling Gimmicks. All Good Quality Portable UHF Radios, Regardless Of Range-Claims, Will Perform Essentially The Same Under The Same Conditions. It Is Unlikely A User Will Normally Experience A Set Of Conditions Conducive To Long Range Operation; However, Under Those Conditions, Radios With Advertised Range Of 2-Miles Will Perform Equally As Well As Those Advertising Greater Than 30-Miles.
Under World-Average Conditions, Typical Range For ALL eXRS, FRS And GMRS Radios Will Be A Few Thousand Feet To Several Miles.
TRANSMITTER POWER LIMITED BY LAW ----- In The United States, Transmitters And Radio Bands Are Limited By The 'Federal Communications Commission' Laws. Five Watts Is The Legal Limit For CB And GMRS Radios; And, A 1/2 Watt For FRS Radios. However, Brand Venders Keep Changing Their Model's Exterior Looks And Increase The Advertised Range Claim Along With A Higher Price. They Appear To Be Avoiding To Give Truthful Specifications Of Transmitter Wattage Output For Their Products. Consumers Can Help Stop This Misleading Marketing Practice By Stop Purchasing Walkie-Talkies And Other Transmitting Equipment Unless A Honest True Wattage-Output Specification Is Given With Each Product, Clearly Viewable On The Packaging And In Advertising.
eXRS Radios ----- Have Been Independently Tested Head-To-Head With The Top Of The Line GMRS/FRS Radios And Up To Five-Watt Commercial Radios And The Results Demonstrate They Are All Range Equivalent. Big Differences Appear In The Actual Transmission Technologies And Their Capabilities To Deliver Clear Interference-Free Voice Communications. The Biggest Advantage To Using eXRS Radios In North America, Is No Operator License Is Required. The Second Is Anyone Can Use Them For Private Or Business Use. The 3rd Advantage Is No Communication Interference From Other Random Users - Communicate Between You And Your Intended Receivers Only; By Using One Selected Digital Channel, from A Range Of 1,000 Or 1 Billion Available Channels, Depending On The Model Radio You And Your Intended Receiving-User(s) Are Using.
CASANOVA FIELD TESTING & REVIEW ----- Let The Testing Begin. On Friday, August 27, 2011, I Received A New Pair Of TriSquare TSX300R Camouflage eXRS Two-Way Wireless Radios For The Purpose Of Field-Testing And Evaluation For Approval In The Casanova Collection. I Assumed The Camo Model Was Sent To Me, Because Of The New Hunting-Gear Selling Season Has Started In North America At This Time. My Initial Thoughts Were, Great Looking Camouflage Housing For Hunters. I Would Recommend The Camo Models To Hunters And Animal-Observers Who Need The Extra Cover Of Blending Into A Surrounding Vegetation Environment. I Do Not Recommend The Camo For Hikers, And Other Outdoor Applications, Since, If Dropped, The Radio Would Become Difficult To Locate Fast, If At All. Further Product Review And Field Testing Results Will Be Published Over Time. Keep Checking Back For The Latest Reviews And New Products Showcased. Thank You For Your Interest And Business.
