UNREGULATED LINEAR
POWER CONVERTER/CHARGER
Provides unregulated 12 volt DC
power, up to 20 Amps, to operate 12
volt lights and motors in
Recreational Vehicle (RV) when
connected to a 120 volt AC power
source like a RV Camp Site
Electrical Box, Home Outlet; RV AC
Generator, Portable Power Generator,
etc.. Mount In Vehicle.
When 120 VAC is
connected to the 3200-Converter via
commercial power of RV generator,
the 3200-Converter, via its
Automatic Relay, is instantly
switched into the circuit to convert
the 120 VAC to 12 VDC to run 12 volt
lights and motors in RV.
A protective Thermal
Breaker will ?break? the 120 VAC
power to Converter if Converter
becomes overheated?by operation
above its maximum limit for an
extended period of time or
obstruction of ventilation to unit.
Automatic Relay?will
instantly switch 12V lights and
motors to battery.
A DC Distribution
Panel is installed in front
compartment of Converter?or is
located adjacent to Converter.
This panel contains circuits with
replaceable fuses for protection of
RV 12-volt light and motor lines.
Automatic,
Solid-State Battery Charger -
When 120 VAC power is connected to
Converter, the Charger Section will
automatically ?sense? the condition
of RV battery. If it is below
?full charge,? Charger Section will
start charging the battery. If
RV battery has been drawn down quite
low, it will be charged at a
relatively high amperage rate.
If battery has not been severely
drained, it will be charged at lower
amperage rate. The rate of charge
will decline as the battery reaches
?full charge.? After battery reached
?full charge,? the Charger will drop
back to ?maintenance? level. If will
not resume active charging until
battery again falls below ?full
charge.? If storage battery
cannot be charged as described above
it is possible the battery is
defective!
NOTE:
Equipment limited to operation from
pure 12 volt battery power?including
12 volt TV?s, radios, stereos,
unfiltered fluorescent lights?must
be connected directly into RV
storage battery line, or equipped
with filter?as the 3200
Converter does not produce the
?pure? 12 volt DC needed by these
items.

converter connected to

Yes.
However, your ?wet-cell?
battery or batteries
will still require
regular and routine
maintenance to prevent
premature battery
failure |

I think my converter is
overcharging the
batteries. Isn?t the
charger supposed to shut off the current when
the battery is fully charged? |

A
No. The battery or
batteries control
whether or not current
flows into them by their
voltage;
a lower voltage
(discharged) battery
draws more current from
the converter, while a
higher
voltage (charged)
battery will draw less
current. Unless the
?float-voltage? goes
above 14.5
Volts DC, it is unlikely
the charger is
overcharging.
After the batteries are
fully charged some
current is still needed
to counter the batteries
self
discharge, so the
converter perpetually
trickle-charges the
batteries. Non-sealed
batteries
should be checked for
fluid level at least
once a month.
A defective battery will
?mimic? the symptoms of
?over-charging? . The
?effective? voltage of
the
battery will remain low
and the battery will
continue to charge. Refer to the
Owner/Operator
manual for additional
information. |

Can I connect
?gel? or ?AGM? batteries
to the linear converter? |

Yes, the ?float-
voltage? is set at 13.8
volts DC. This
should present no
problems to these
types of batteries.
However, always check
the battery manufacturer
specifications for
voltage
recommendations. |

What is the maximum
charging rate of the
linear converter to my
batteries? |

The charger circuit
output is capable of a
maximum of 10-12
amperes. All DC load
devices
connected to the
accessory terminals and
the battery will share
this current |

How fast may I expect my
batteries to recharge? |

The time required is
dependent upon several
variables. The number of
batteries in the
system, how much the
batteries have been
discharged, and other DC
loads connected to the
accessory terminals that
may be powered on and
using available recharge
current. |

I?m hearing a ?clicking? or ?pinging? sound from my converter. What?s going on? |

A
The likely cause is the auto-reset breaker on the charger output cycling on and off. The DC load
on the charging output exceeding the available output of the charge circuit causes this condition. |
