Choose two landmarks
in your view and find them on your map. |

Now
hold your compass horizontal in front of your body, and point the "Direction of Travel Arrow"
on the compass, towards
one of the landmarks. |

Now rotate the compass dial until the north end of the
compass needle is aligned with the “ ” or
north arrow printed on the compass dial. |

Now
read the compass bearing at the Index Line. |

Place the compass on your map with the edge of the
baseplate touching the landmark on the map. |

Pivot the compass baseplate on the landmark point until
the Orienting Arrow aligns with the Magnetic North lines. |

Draw a line on the map, starting at the landmark and
running along the edge of the baseplate, across the map. |
| 8) |
Repeat
the above steps with the second landmark. |
| 9) |
Where the two lines intersect is your location!
