Place A Baseplate Compass On The Map, With The Edge Of The Baseplate Along The Desired Line Of Travel

Turn The Compass Dial Until 'N' On The Dial Points North On The Map.

Make Sure The Parallel Lines On The Bottom Of The Compass Dial Are Aligned With The Vertical Grid Lines On The Map (Meridian Lines).

Hold The Compass In Your Hand And Turn Yourself Until The Red End Of The Compass Needle (North) Aligns With The Red Arrow At The Bottom Of The Compass Dial.

The Direction Of Travel Arrow On The Compass Is Now Pointing Towards Your Destination.

To Achieve A More Accurate Direction To Your Destination (Very Important When Traveling Over Far Distances), Read And Remember (weatherproof paper and pen note taking) The Bearing At The Index-Line On The Compass Housing.

Then turn the housing until North points to the indexline. Sight through the lens on the side of the compass housing and turn yourself until you obtain the earlier read bearing towards your destination.
