New Dive Site Investigation!

The Oriskany Artificial Reef

(Ex-U.S.S. Oriskany Aircraft Carrier)

Pensacola, Florida, USA

Captain Ron Is A Dive Character Operator That Not Only Provides The Fastest Boat Out To The Oriskany,  But Can Marry A Couple On The New Artificial Aircraft Carrier Reef Or Any Other Offshore Dive Site Off Pensacola Florida.   A Serious Diver And Captain, With A Unique Lighter Side, Makes For A Great Dive Experience.  Thank You Captain Ron For A Great First And Second Dive On The New Reef!

Gulf of Mexico (May 17, 2006) - The ex-Oriskany, a decommissioned aircraft carrier, was sunk 24 miles off the coast of Pensacola, Fla., on May 17, 2006 to form an artificial reef.   The 888-foot ship took about 37 minutes to sink below the surface.   After 25 years of service to the Navy in operations in Korea, Vietnam and the Mediterranean, ex-Oriskany will now benefit marine life, sport fishing and recreation diving off the coast of the Florida panhandle.

Thanks To My Dive-Buddy And Casanova Adventurer, Bob Brinkman For Enlightening Me Of This Great Dive Site; And For Doing The First Recon Of The New Site And The Dive Operations In The Area.  In August 2006, Bob Made His First Dives On The Reef/Wreck With Captain Ron's Dive Charter Service.  I Followed In November 2006, After Attending The Week-Long DEMA Sport-Diving Industry Trade Show In Orlando Florida, Where Few Had Heard Of The New Reef/Wreck.
