The TerraFix™ is a satellite signaling device of last resort, for use when all other means of self rescue have been exhausted, where the situation is grave and imminent and the loss of life, limb, eyesight or valuable property will occur without assistance.
The TerraFix™ 406 GPS PLB is designed to be manually deployed and activated. It is only to be activated when all other means of self-rescue have been exhausted. Activation of the PLB tells Search and Rescue who you are, where you are, and that you are facing a life threatening situation.

A External GPS Data Input Port. Interface Technology: Optical Infrared-Light Port. Data Format Required: 'NMEA 0183' Version 1.5 or Greater. External GPS Receiver Requirements: The GPS Receiver Must Have A Data Output Port And Provide A Data Output Format Called 'NMEA 0183'. A GPS Serial Data Cable For The Specific GPS Model Will Be Needed. A TerraFix GPS Serial Interface Cable Assembly Is Also Required. Check The GPS Receiver System's Data Output Specifications And Make Sure There Is A Way To Set The Data Format Output To 'NMEA 0183'. The TerraFix GPS Serial Interface Cable Assembly Is Equipped With A Standard 9-pin Female Serial Connector. GPS-Data Format: The TerraFix Requires The NMEA Sentence 'GPGGA'. The GPS Data Output Format Must Be Set To 'NMEA GPGGA' (Also Referred To As 'GGS', or 'GGA NMEA'). GPS Cable Length: ACR Electronics recommends a maximum length of 400 feet, using 24 AWG wire. The ACR AquaFix Is A Emergency Life Saving Device To Be Used When All Else Fails!
Advances In PLB Technology Have Made Transmission, Location And Rescue Faster Than Ever Before. A PLB is a small transmitter that sends out a personalized emergency distress signal to your nearest rescue service. For pilots, boaters, hikers, campers, etc. a PLB is a highly effective and internationally recognized way to summon help. A PLB should be used only in situations of Grave and Imminent Danger or "Life Threatening Situations"; Terrorist Kidnapping.......
Transmits on 406 MHz via the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system with your registered unique, digitally coded distress signal and 121.5 MHz (SAR homing frequency).
Smallest and most functional P-ELT available; can be easily carried in a pack or pocket; small enough to be worn by pilots, hikers, hunters, kayakers or any outdoor enthusiast.
Full functional self test of internal circuitry, battery power, 406 MHz transmission, and GPS acquisition (P/N 2799.4 only).
Flat, stainless steel antenna wraps compactly around the unit for easy stowage; and is ready for rapid deployment.

GPS interface (NMER 0183) allows you to download GPS coordinates prior to activation; once activated, your LAT/LON transmits on the first burst insuring your distress message reaches search and rescue near instantaneously.
Onboard GPS (PN 2799.4 only) acquires LAT/LON when the unit is activated, your LAT/LON are transmitted as soon as acquired providing rescue agencies with your exact position to within 100 meters (110 yards), within 3 minutes of satellite reception.
Removable holster provides functionality, style and protection for your P-ELT; allows for multiple mounting options to back packs, belts, webbing and life vests.
Battery Witness Seal Life ACR strongly recommends performing the self test on the
AquaFix™ 406 GPS on a monthly basis. If your P-EPIRB flashes an initial Red LED at the beginning of the Self Test, this indicates that your electronic witness has been broken and you have used more than 1 hour of battery life. While the PEPIRB will still operate normally in an emergency, ACR strongly recommends you have your battery replaced and the electronic witness reset to ensure that you will have 24 hours of battery power should you ever need to activate your unit in an emergency
