SEAL (Ret.) Chief James "Patches" Watson and
custom knife maker William Harsey Jr. to Produce
the Silver Trident™, the pinnacle of combat
dive/utility knife development. Designed by the
Chief and William Harsey Jr, the Silver
Trident™ boasts innovation in handle design,
sheath technology, the finest materials available
and is produced with flawless craftsmanship.
The Silver Trident™ has the most durable
and comfortable handle of any combat knife ever
produced. Made by co-molding two different
versions of Hytrel®, the handle has a nearly
indestructible hard inner core with a soft,
easy-to-grip cover molded over the entire handle.
The outer handle is textured to enhance both
comfort and grip. The handle also features a
stainless steel butt cap suitable for hammering or
pounding in emergency situations. The handle is
fastened to the blade with stainless steel
fasteners.
Silver Trident™ has an aggressive clip
point blade made from 154CM stainless steel. The
domestic equivalent of ATS-34, this U.S. made
stainless steel takes and holds an edge better
than other stainless steels. Blades are available
double-edged with partial serrations, or
double-edged with partial chisel-tip serrations on
top and standard serrations on bottom. Blades are
heat treated to 57-59Rc. This provides the best
edge holding ability while maintaining flexibility
and strength. The blade is blackened to reduce
glare and corrosion.
The Silver Trident™ comes with a genuine
Blackhawk ballistic nylon sheath with a kydex
insert for safety. As well as a traditional strap
around the handle with a release snap, the insert
provides a secure, secondary retention system to
help prevent loss of the knife in emergency or
combat situations. The sheath also features a
pocket on the front for accessories, as well as
multiple attachment straps and points for multiple
carrying options.
Chief Watson (Ret.) was one of the original SEAL
team members formed during the Vietnam War. The
character "Patches" in Richard Marcinko's book,
Rogue Warrior book series, is based on Chief
Watson and his accomplishments during twenty years
of service in the United States Navy. Chief Watson
served three tours in Vietnam, where he earned
sixteen combat decorations including four Bronze
Stars all with Combat "V".
Over the past twenty years, William Harsey Jr. has
built a reputation as an award-winning custom
knife maker known worldwide for his tactical knife
prowess. He has designed and built knives for many
prestigious military organizations including the
Green Berets, Navy SEALs, Marine Force Recon., the
British SAS and Germany's GSG-9. Some of Mr.
Harsey's more notable designs for Gerber include
the Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder (1996 Blade
Magazine American Made Knife of the Year), the Air
Frame and the Air Ranger.
