The Quetico Provincial Park Is A Remote Pristine Primeval Wilderness Area Of International Acclaim, Know For Beautiful Lakes And Superb Fishing, With 2200 Backcountry Primitive Campsites Accessible Through Six Entry Points.  The Park Encompasses 4700km Of True Untouched Wilderness Without Development Of Any Kind.

No Motors And No Firearms Are Allowed Within The Park Boundaries.

A Protected Wilderness West Of Lake Superior On The Canada-U.S. Border, Filled With Many Lakes And History.  Portages Between Lakes Were Formed By Travelling Ojibway And Fur Traders.  Now The Area Is Primarily The Destination Of Experienced Adventurers In Their Specialized Canoes And Kayaks, Seeking Unique Experiences...... Solitude And Rare Glimpses Of Wildlife By Cascading Waterfalls, Glassy Lakes And Endless Forests.  The Park Is Accessible At Four Canoe/Kayak Entry-Points, And Two Vehicle Entry-Points; Dawson Trail Campground and Lac la Croix Ranger Station.

The Many Interconnecting Waterways Were The Highway System Of The Early Explorers Who Sought Passage To The West.  They Were Also A Vital Transportation Route That Supplied Tons Of Fur Pelts To The Markets Of Montreal And Europe In The Mid-17th Century.  Today These Same Waterways Are Protected And Untouched; Wilderness Paradise For The Portaging-Skilled-And-Outfitted Canoe Or Kayak Adventurers.

The Dawson Trail Campground at French Lake is the only entrance point for drive-in camping.  Remember, Untouched Wilderness, There Are No Roads In The Protected Park.  The Campground Contains 107 Campsites, 49 Modern With Electricity; Are Close To Comfort Stations, Showers, Laundromat, Flushing Toilets And Other Amenities.  Three Well-Marked, Interpretive Hiking Trails Are Located Along The Main Campground Road. Canadian or U.S. Dollars Accepted.  Off-Season Cash Only Self-Serve Facility.

'Wilderness Park' Definition: Wilderness Parks Are Large Areas Left To Nature Where Visitors May Travel On Foot Or By Canoe.  Offering Little If Any Facilities For Visitors, These Areas Provide The Solitude Of An Undisturbed, Natural Setting.
