Paperback
Introduction Quote
"The primary purpose of this book is to help
prospectors learn how to find gold in the Midwest, mainly
Indiana, but also in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois.
Moreover, the information in this book could easily be
applied to any previously glaciated area with similar
geological characteristics."
Initial Feedback June 25th 2006: New
Book Just Arrived At The Lab Here In Wisconsin For Review.
The Book Is Well Made With An Inviting Look To It.
After Skimming Through It Briefly, Between Mountains Of
Other Work, I Can Say The Book Is Filled With Good
Original Photos Illustrating Techniques And Ore Samples.
There Are Also Many Detailed Illustrated Colored Drawings
Showing "How" And "Where" Type Information. References
Are Given In The Back Of The Book To Online And Off Line
Sources Of Information used In This Book.. There
Is Also A Glossary Of Terms In The Back Of The Book. A
Glossary Is An Absolute Must For Any Good Reference Book ---
Setting An Understood Definition To Terms Used By The
Author. While Briefly Paging Through The Book, I
Did Noticed There Is A Bit Of Online Information Added,
However There Appears To Be Enough Original Content And
Information To Make It Worth While Reading. I
Will Read This Book In The Next Few Days And Update This
Feedback In The Near Future. June 25th 2006 Gene Casanova
Update - August 1, 2006 - I have been able to
squeeze in a read of this book before sleeping. The
book presents publicly available information, author's
opinions and finding, plus illustrated maps, pictures and
drawings, all brought together in focused and brief
chapters. The book is short and brief but right to the
point. It is easy to read and does have enough value
inside, to make it worth adding to your reference library.
Chapter 1 - The book starts out with an introduction
mentioning Indiana gold related history stories and claims.
The author offers historic gold claims and values then
speculates a value if found at the time he wrote this.
Origin of Midwest Gold - Chapter 2 - This next chapter
focuses on available public information based on the
opinions and theories of published K12 professors and state
geologists. The author takes this information
and combines it together, using illustrated general-detailed
maps, into a brief focused explanation. The
information in this chapter is available publicly, however,
this book and the author offers the reader a simple "one
stop" resource, with all the information brought together
into an easy to read and understand chapter.
Ice Age Gold Deposits - Chapter 3 - In the
glaciated parts of the Midwest, rich gold deposits were once
formed by melting glacier flood water. The secrete is
........ yes there is a secrete to where natural-occurring
"native" gold lies in the Midwest. In my own
studies and research into gold and all that has been written
in modern books and old discovered documents from the
original gold prospectors of the United States, And
Australia, The bottom line is the first western-people
prospectors found gold by pure chance! The author
offers a different way of looking at today's environment and
how gold may have been effected by glaciers. This
chapter offers a fresh insight to gold producing types of
geological characteristics . The author does not make
reference to himself. However, the chapter reads as if this
information was based on his own experiences. The
ideas and opinions sound valid and some suggestions sound
crazy.
Chapter 4 - Stream Characteristics
Chapter 5 - Geological Maps
Chapter 6 - Indicator Minerals
Chapter 7 - Gold Sampling Technique
Chapter 8 - Pan and Sluice Box Prospecting
Chapter 9 - Dredging for Gold
Chapter 10 - Metal Detecting
Chapter 11 - Midwest Diamonds
Chapter 12 - Commercial Possibilities
Chapter 13 - Keeping a Log Book
Chapter 14 - Helpful Tips, Hints, Etc
Chapter 15 - Research, The Internet & Gold Clubs
Chapter 16 - The Gold, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Book's
Value?
Value With
Anything, Is Set By The Buyer. The information
inside is valid, and there is personal author knowledge and
opinions that only the author can provide. Below is the
contents of the back of this book, offered as a qualifier to the
author's information worth (value).
"Chuck was
born and raised in Indiana, where at the age of nine, he
found his first gold nugget in a gravel parking lot.
Since that time his passion for gold prospecting has taken
him throughout the Midwest in search of the yellow metal.
He has also spent considerable time dredging in the
mountains of California and Oregon, as well as desert
prospecting in the Southwest."
The book at its
face value, has a feel of a good-quality made paperback book,
with large easy to read type face and small enough to pack along
for a good read at lunch time, at the park, etc..
The information inside is the true value setter of this book.
The unique details of the geological characteristic insights as
it pertains to natural loose gold, is the main value; the main
intentions of the book. What would you pay a formal
educational institution for the same valuable information?
A lot more than what this book can be had for! If you are
serious about looking for recreation and want to give yourself
better odds, then buy this book, read it and re-read it... It's
worth buying.
