Walking All Day Was Always Tiring And Wearing On My Body At The EAA Fly-In.  I Tried  Canteens A Couple Times, But They Were Always Not Enough Water And The Water Came Out Hot And Unbearably Awful Tasting!

I Recently Tested A CamelBak Hydration System At The EAA.  Wow What a Difference Drinking A Little Bit Of Water Often; I Was Full Of Energy And Comfortable All Day, While Out In The Hot Direct Sunlight of Mid Summer In Wisconsin.  The Bad Part Was The Heat Of The Day And The Constant Direct Sunlight On The Pack, Caused The Taste-Free Hydration System To Give Out Horribly Tasting Water!  It Was Awful, But The Day Was So Hot That I Had To Force Myself To Drink Short Sips; The Short Sips As All I Could Bear Of The Taste!  My Co Field Tester, Jack Casanova, Enjoyed Much Better Tasting Water From The New Reengineered Platypus Hydration System.

(And My High School Physics Teacher Thought I Wasn't Paying Attention! It Was The Presentation That Was Boring, Not The Subject).

A Note About The Field Tests.  During My Hydration System Field Tests, I Use Only Purified Bottled Or Purified City Tap Water AS The "Control".  The Purpose Of The Water (control) Is To Have A Reference Point For Tasteless Water To Compare From (Basic Scientific Procedure).  All Systems Are Filled With This Water Before Each Field Test.

The Camelbak Hydration System Was Purchased In 2005 And Used On Many Field Test Missions; Every Time Delivering Foul Tasting Water.  I Have No Idea Why Their Advertising People Advertise The Statement "Taste-Free"?  This Hydration System Is Defiantly Not "Taste Free".  In Heat, The Taste Became Extremely Awful To The Point It Was Drinkable.  The System Failed Me; Delivering Extremely Awful Plastic Leaching Taste From The First Sip; Every Time.  Both The Reservoir And The Drink Tube Seem To Contribute To The Awful Water Quality.  The Reservoir And Drin Tube Were Cleaned many Times To Try And Remove Any Manufacturing Residue.  However The Foul Taste In The Water Was There Are Repeated Rinsing.

The Next Day The Water had Still Remained Cool And Refreshing To Taste!  The Clean Taste Help Me Fight Off The Bad Taste In My Mouth Caused By The large Volumes Of Acid Build-Up As A Result Of My Muscles Paddling Constantly For 8 Hours And More!

Since The Field testing Began With This Hydration System, It Has Only Been Cleaned By Rinsing And Drying; And Maybe A Few Times Clean With mild Soap And Water.  The Glass-Like Liner Really Does Seems Not To Be Leaching Any Foul tastes Into The Water!  Even After The Water Sits For Days In The Reservoir.
