The Meade
#497 Autostar Telescope Computer Controller plugs directly
into the
"Computer Control" panel of the Meade ETX-90EC or ETX-125EC Astro Telescope; expanding their capabilities.
One of the
most important advances in telescope control in the
past 25 years, the Meade #497 Autostar Computer
Controller turns the ETX-90EC or ETX-125EC into an
automatic celestial object locating system. Just
plug the Autostar into the telescope?s HBX port in
place of the standard-equipment Electronic
Controller, do a quick (less than one minute!)
telescope alignment, and you?re ready to observe any
object in the Autostar?s 14,000-object database.

Any of Autostar?s database objects can be called up on the hand controller display in seconds. The
user then simply presses the 'GO TO' pushbutton and watches as the telescope automatically slews (moves) to the object and places it in the field of view. The effect of Autostar is to bring objects easily within reach, which were previously unreachable for all but the most dedicated of amateur astronomers.

Interface Cable Kit Is Required and Available As Optional
Accessory.
The
software can be used to display the night
sky onto your PC screen in actual "real time". You simply take your
mouse and point to an object on the screen. The Meade Autostar
computer
will then position the telescope for
optimum viewing of that object. It's that easy!
The optional #505
Connector Cable Set is required for RS232 serial
connection to a PC.
The Meade
Skychart
software
can
be purchased to get you started with your PC.
Included with this software : 2 interface cables
and serial port adapter, SkyChart Software, and
Telescope interface driver software.
