The New
Deep Sky Imager is the latest innovation from Meade
Instruments and represents a revolutionary
breakthrough in CCD astro-imaging. The Deep Sky
Imager is a high-performance, easy-to-use color CCD
camera that allows every astronomer to shoot and
process stunning deep sky photographs of galaxies,
nebulae, star clusters and planets their first night
out.
One
Pass Color CCD Sensor from Sony?
The Meade Deep Sky Imager utilizes Sony?s Super HAD?
Color CCD Image Sensor Technology for incredible low
noise and higher dynamic range:
? 16-Bit A/D converter
? High dynamic range
? 48-Bit Color
More Deep Sky Imager Features?
USB 2.0 High Speed
The New Meade Deep Sky Imager? features a fast USB
2.0 High Speed connection. This will allow fast data
transfer. The actual download time for daytime or
planetary imaging is up to 5 frames per second. For
longer exposures the download time is ? a second in
order to sustain a higher signal to noise ratio.
There is virtually no delay between the time the
image is taken and when it appears on your computer
screen. The Deep Sky Imager is also backward
compatible with USB 1.1.
Deep Sky Imager is Convection Cooled
The Deep Sky Imager draws away heat from the CCD
sensor with Meade?s proprietary ?Convection cooling?
design, allowing longer exposures with less noise.
Less Noise Means More Data
With Meade?s proprietary collection of noise
reduction techniques managing the data coming from
the imaging chip, you get more data for every second
of exposure.
No Compression, no Loss
You get all the data from your Deep Sky Imager
without compression, and that means no loss of
information in your raw images. So no matter if you
take image for beauty or for science, Deep Sky
Imager will give you the results you need.
No Batteries Required
Just plug the Deep Sky Imager?s USB 2.0 High Speed
cable into your laptop and you are ready to image or
autoguide. No other power supplies are needed.

Image by John Hoot. All images were taken with a
Meade 8" LX200?GPS using Meade?s Deep Sky Imager.
Total exposure time was 10 minutes (20 exposures at
30 seconds each ? automatically stacked). All images
were processed using Meade?s AutoStar Suite
software.

$1000.
-
Deep
Sky Imager can also be used as a sensitive and
simple to use Autoguider.
-
Exposure times as short as 1/10,000th of a
second, and as long as 1 hour to accommodate any
exposure demand. Perfect for imaging the Moon,
planets, and deep-sky objects.
-

Deep
Sky Imager works on any telescope.
An
Incredible Software Package?
Deep Sky
Imager is an advanced, complete solution for imaging
and autoguiding with these advanced Software
enhancements:
-
Autostar Suite has the ability to adjust color
saturation and balance, eliminating the need to
use Photoshop or other tools to accomplish this
pre-publication step.
-
Time
Lapse photography tool ? Create movies of the
rotation of Jupiter, moons transiting Jupiter,
etc?
-
Auto
and Manual exposure settings. Let Deep Sky
Imager optimize the exposure, or set it
manually.
-
New
Stretch Options: Auto-stretch automatically
brings out dim objects at short exposures.
Optimizes the contrast of objects, with
adjustable contrast settings.
-
Automatic Dark Subtraction. Dark frames are
automatically stacked and averaged, then
subtracted giving you a clean image.
-
Automatically align and stack images using
state-of-the-art techniques.
-
Magic
Eye? focus for super fast, no-hassle focusing.
