The Suunto Advizor is the
ideal companion for all outdoor people
from beginners to professionals.
The Suunto Advizor offers unique combination of
altimeter, barometer, electronic compass,
chronometer and heart rate monitor in one
compact reliable lightweight
high-performance package. The heart rate monitor
allows the user to monitor the impact of
altitude and vertical rate of movement on
the heart rate. All these features together
make the Advizor an ideal personal trainer
for every outdoor enthusiast.
The Suunto Advizor Wristop Computer
simultaneously shows your heart rate, altitude and vertical
ascent/descent data. So whether you train in the mountains
or at the beach, the Advizor memory stores your total
training time...your maximum/minimum and average heart rate
during training...plus your time spent in/above/below your
pre-set target heart rate.
The ADVIZOR's large LCD Display is designed to offer maximum
clarity and simplicity through organized data display layout. Six distinct
viewable areas organize data for fast recognition and viewing during an
activity!

YOUR PERSONAL
OUTDOOR-SPORT FITNESS TRAINING
COMPUTER
Advizor offers altimeter, barometer, digital
compass and more. Additional features
include dual time, easy access to daily
total ascent/descent, as well as a complete
heart rate monitor (HRM). Other features
include electroluminescent backlight,
user-replaceable battery as well as a
durable plastic casing water-resistant to
100ft/30m. Operating temperature -20 - +50
Celsius, -5 -+120 Fahrenheit.
PUT ALL YOUR HEART INTO IT

Advizor enables the user to set upper and
lower limits in one beat increments for
target zone training, featuring audible and
visual alarms alerting the user that they
are exceeding preset limits. Easy to use
with the auto-start of the heart rate
measurement, Advizor’s HRM mode also
features a stopwatch as well as an interval
timer. Using either one of the timers,
Advizor will store the crucial information
for viewing after training including:
training time, maximum, minimum and average
heart rate, as well as time spent in, above
and below the target zone during training.
MEASURE YOUR VERTICAL PERFORMANCE
Advizor’s altimeter ranging up to 9,000 m /
29,500 ft simultaneously displays and stores
into the logbook, current altitude, vertical
ascent/descent rate as well as heart rate.
This feature allows the user to follow the
impact of altitude and vertical ascent rate
on the heart beat while hiking, mountain
biking or skiing. In addition to your total
vertical ascent/descent and number of runs
skied, you can easily view your maximum,
minimum and average heart rate during the
day and time spent in, above or below your
target zone if you set one before heading
out.
ACCURATE READINGS
The electronic compass has a bubble level
for accurate readings. In a horizontal
position, when the liquid bubble of the
level is centered, the Advizor is able to
give bearings with 3-degree-accuracy. Other
information shown in the compass mode are
the cardinal or half-cardinal point and the
North-South arrow. The compass can also be
set to track a certain bearing, which helps
following of the chosen direction in the
terrain. The declination adjustment function
allows the user to correct the difference
between true North and magnetic North.
KEEP ONE STEP AHEAD OF THE STORM
The Advizor displays the current barometric
pressure and temperature, which is valuable
information for forecasting the weather
changes. The Advizor automatically records
barometric data for the past four days: the
first six hours in one-hour intervals and
after that in six-hour intervals. When the
reference altitude is correctly set, the
instrument also shows the present sea level
pressure, which makes it easier to read and
understand the barometric pressure at high
altitudes. However, when on tour on the
mountains, don’t forget that the detected
barometric pressure changes when you are
moving in the vertical direction, which
makes tracing of weather changes more
complicated.
Rotating Bezel Purpose
Baseplate
Compass Function
The purpose of the
rotating bezel is to proved a way for the Advizor to be used as a baseplate
compass. The bezel can be used to indicate NORTH when in the bearing
tracking mode or leaving the compass display for another mode. Main Function Of
Bezel.
Track Vertical
Progress ( Secondary Function Of Bezel)
Point the 'NORTH'
indicator on the bezel, to mark the altitude to be marked as the start point.
Altitude is graphically displayed by segments on the circumference of the LCD
display.
Waterproof
The Suunto ADVIZOR
is waterproof to a depth of 30 meters (100 ft.). Rain and other normal
exposure to water will not effect operation according to Suunto manual. As
Advised In The Suunto Manual, The ADVISOR can be Worn While Swimming, But Is Not
A Diving Device! Therefore, Buttons Should Not Be Operated While Underwater!

Heart Rate Monitoring
Heart Rate
Monitoring In A Water Environment Is technically Demanding For The Following
Reasons:
- Pool water high
in chlorine content and saltwater, may be very conductive, and may short circuit
the chest monitor's electrodes, preventing the ECG (electrocardiogram) signal to
be detected.
- A The ECG Signal
strength varies depending on the individual's tissue composition; and the
percentage of people who have problems with heart rate measurement is
considerably higher in the water environment.
- Movement during
competitive swimming may cause water resistance that shifts the heart sensor
chest assembly on the body to a location where it is no possible to pick up the
ECG signal.
Display
Circumference Segment Bar Graph
Altimeter Mode
When in the
Altimeter mode of operation, the ADVIZOR displays segmented blocks around the
circumference of the display. One full circle equals 1,000 meter (1,000feet).
When using the difference measurement function of the altimeter, the segments
indicate the vertical difference in the elevation over a full thousand either
ascending, or descending.
Barometer Mode
Indicates a scale
- one full circle equals 100mbar (1 inHg).
Compass Mode
One Segment
indicates NORTH and three segments point SOUTH. When the Bearing Tracking
function is set, the segments indicate the difference between the current
direction and the desired set bearing direction.
