Divers must use a dive flag for safety and in many areas, displaying a dive flag while in the water is required by law. Certified SCUBA Divers Are Taught This As part Of The Required Knowledge To Obtain A SCUBA Diving Certification.
Skin Divers, People Snorkeling And All Boaters Must Be Aware Of The Dive Flag Laws And Be Able To Recognize And Know What A Dive Flag Means!
What Makes A Good Dive Flag?
A Large Bright Red Flag With High-Contrasting White Diagonal Line, Made From High-Grade Materials That Will Not Fade And Will Not Rip In High Winds Normally Encounter On Bodies Of Water; And, The Flag Must Be Fully Erect At All Times Without Any Need For Wind.
With Diver-Towed Flags, The Flag Must Be As High Off The Water AS Possible So That Boaters Can See The Flag. The Float Device To Hold The Flag Off The Water Must Absolutely Not Be Able To Be Pulled Underwater By The Diver!
Anything Less Than The Outlined Criteria Above For A Dive Flag, Is Not A Proper Functional Safety Device To Risk Your Life On! And, In Many Cases Around The World, There Are Laws That Govern What A Dive Flag Must Be!
WARNING ---- When Using A Floatation Dive Flag For Towing While Diving, YOU MUST BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING!
There Are Many Flotation Dive Flags On The Market, But Most Of Them Were Not Properly Designed For Towing By A Diver! When Towing A Floating Dive Flag, The Floatation Device Must Keep The Dive Flag High Off The Water And In Easy And Open View Of All Water Users! The Floatation Must Be Large Enough To keep A Diver From Pulling It Underwater. Do Not Use Anything Less, Your Life Depends On It!
Know The Local Laws Of The Country, State, Town, And Even The Specific Lake Or Body Of Water You Are Going To SCUBA Dive, Snorkel Or Skin Dive On!
